Melissa, you turn my frowns upside down

This weekend I headed down south to Seattle, Washington with a few of my friends. Pretty good weekend, even though we left a little late on Friday evening. We left Surrey at around 6PM and didn’t get to Seattle until about 10PM.

First stop, our hotel, the Roosevelt (Thank you Christina for booking that!). This hotel was smack dab in the middle of downtown (well close enough to it anyways). The cool thing about it was that we could walk to nearby restaurants and other places with little or no effort because it was so damned close.

Unfortunately, we only had time to eat at some bar. I totally forgot the name of it. Food was alright, price was pricey. Like Jan said: “You’re just paying for the atmostphere.” Overall, it wasn’t too shabby.

Since there was not much time to do anything, we just headed straight to the hotel and called it a night. The next day, we went sightseeing. Well, the guys went sightseeing. The girls went shoppin’. We managed to be there on time for the St. Patty’s Day parade. We also so those ANON protesters. Y’know those guys that are protesting against Scientology. Anyways, that’s another story. We also visited the world famous Seattle Public Market. The world’s first Starbucks was there, but it was so damned busy, I couldn’t buy myself a coffee. Did some damn good sightseeing. It would’ve been nice if we could’ve went to Key Arena or Safeco Field. Heck, it would’ve been nice if I could’ve visited my cousins but there was no time. Here’s some pics:

I headed down to Best Buy with Christina last week and ended up purchasing Saved by the Bell Seasons 1 and 2. I’d say $16 is a pretty good deal for both seasons. Instead of working on my final assignment, I’ve already gone through the first 3 discs of the season.

Watching these episodes on DVD definitely brought back a lot of memories. But one couldn’t help but wonder, where the hell are they now? Well, I’m going to give you a character by character breakdown of Zachary “Zack” Morris, Kelly Kapowski, Samuel “Screech” Powers, Lisa Marie Turtle, Albert Clifford “A.C.” Slater and Jessica Myrtle “Jessie” Spano.

Zachary “Zack” Morris

Oh yes, the “blonde cutie” that all girls had that elementary school crush on. Crazy Zack Morris, a.k.a. Mark Paul Gosselaar, always up to his crazy antics. When he wasn’t getting detention from Mr. Belding, he was gettin’ with Kelly Kapowski. So where is Mark now? Well, after Saved by the Bell, he starred in an unsuccessful spin off of Saved by the Bell called Saved by the Bell, the College Years. Afterwards, he starred in his first feature film, Dead Man On Campus. Yeah, yeah, I know, I’ve never heard of it either. Then he starred in a bunch of other films that you and I have never heard of. He’s been happily married since 1996 to his wife, Lisa Ann Russell. They have a son together named, Michael Charles and a daughter Ava Lorenn. Here’s some pictures of Mark now:

Ah yes, Kelly Kapowski, my childhood crush. One couldn’t help but resist her irresistible beauty. She played the stereotypical hot cheerleader high school girl. She also dated Zack Morris (that lucky son of a bitch) on the show. When watching Saved by the Bell, I always thought she was the hottest girl on the show. So, you all must definitely be wondering, where is she now? Well damn, let’s find out!

After working on Saved by the Bell, she too starred in Saved by the Bell: The College Years. After a somewhat unsuccessful run that show was finally canceled. Afterwards, she joined the cast of Beverly Hills 90210 as Valerie Malone. I never really watched Beverly Hills 90210, but I remember that she was an evil bitch. She also co-starred with Tori Spelling a.k.a. Violet Ann Bickerstaff (the nerd that had a big crush on Screech). She then starred in a show on fox called Fastlane. The show was canceled after a short season. Tiffani now has her own production company called Tit 4 Tat Productions. She directed a movie, under that production company, called Just Pray. The latest show she worked on was called What About Brian. However, that was canceled in May 2007. Now, I have no idea what she’s doing. All I gotta say is that she is still looking mighty fine:

Samuel “Screech” Powers

Ahh, good old Samuel Powers (a.k.a. Screech). Who could forget this character? Actually, I personally hated Screech. He always messed up Zack’s plans, especially during the first season of the show. I found it strange that Zack was tight with Screech. He was such a dork and Zack was the popular kid. Friendship aside, I thought that it was pretty stupid that Zack used Screech in his plans, having previous experiences of Screech messing up. Guh! Makes me mad just thinking about it. Another thing that I noticed was that they made Screech’s character smart, yet he always messed up the simplest of Zack’s plans. When he wasn’t busy fucking up, he was trying to get with Lisa Turtle. That always failed. In fact, that’s all he ever did really. Mess up Zack’s plans and try and get with Lisa Turtle. Not funny. Anyways, enough Screech bashing. Where is he now?

Damn, where to begin. I Googled Dustin Diamond and boy, do I have an assload to tell you. After Saved by the Bell, he too joined the cast of Saved by the Bell: The College Years. We all know what happened to that show. I think one of the most notable appearances that he’s made, since Saved by the Bell, was Celebrity Boxing. It was this show that featured all these washed up actors and pitted them against each other. I think Screech..err..Dustin won. Not too sure. He also appeared on a reality TV show called Celebrity Fit Club. From what I’ve read, he wasn’t super popular on the show and apparently quit and came back. At one point, he claimed that he was going bankrupt and decided to sell t-shirts that said “I gave $15 to help screeech!”. He even claimed to personally sign these t-shirts for $5 extra. However, according to good old Wikipedia, this claim of bankruptcy was fraudulent and people did not receive their t-shirts. What a douche bag. Now the icing on the cake. On November 13, 2006, a sex tape, starring Dustin Diamond, was released called “Screeched”. Somehow, the sex tape got out and was released by Red Light District. Hmm…not much else to say except “WOW”. This guy does not have much going for him, but who knows. Maybe that sex tape will boost his career?……………….or maybe not.

Honestly, not much to say about her character. When she wasn’t busy bragging about what new “gorgeous” outfit she wore, she was trying to avoid Screech. That’s about it. No, really, that’s it. Lisa was the token black person.

So what has Lisa done after Saved by the Bell? Well, the only thing that comes to mind is when she guest-starred on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and played Carlton’s love interest. She also had a more permanent role in the show In the House as Alfonso Ribeiro’s wife. That’s about it. No, really, like I said, that’s it.

Albert Clifford “A.C.” Slater

A.C. Slater was Bayside’s dimple faced jock. I swear to God he was on every one of Bayside’s sport teams. He was even on the track team with Zack. Slater always had a way to foil Zack’s schemes, either by scaring the truth out of Screech or accidentally finding out. From all of the characters, I found him the least annoying. Except for when he cried like a bitch when his pet lizard Artie died. Near the beginning of the season, Slater always competed with Zack for the love of Kelly. This went on and on until finally he started dating Jessie Spano. When they dated on the show, it’s like they didn’t date at all. All I could remember was that Slater always called Jessie “mama” and she always called him “pig”. It was this repetitive running gag that kinda made Slater’s character slightly more annoying but still tolerable than the rest. He was also quite talented. Just check out his dance moves!

Oh yeah Kelly…you should definitely pick Slater!

Mario Lopez has had a slightly more successful career than the rest of the Saved by the Bell gang. If we ignore his College Years episodes that he did, we see that he starred in a show called Pacific Blue as Officer Bobby Cruz (oh yeah!). That show lasted about 4 seasons. I’d say it was a rip off of Baywatch. Just add bikes. Cops on Bikes…that should’ve been the title instead. In 2006 he appeared on Dancing With the Stars. He was praised for his skillage and viewers wondered if he had professional training in the past. Even with all that skill he still lost to Emmit Smith. What a shame. He has also hosted Miss Teen USA in ‘98, ‘03 and ‘07. Who could forget this classic clip?:

Mario currently hosts America’s Best Dance Crew. It’s actually quite entertaining. Check it out. Looks like this guy will make an awesome host one day. He apparently tried out to be the next host for The Price is Right. I think I can sorta picture him doing that. Here’s some recent pictures:

We all knew Jessie as the uber smart ultra feminist. She was also known as the tall one. I always remembered her as the character that bitched about everything. I think deep down inside we all thought Jessie was a little psycho. I think you know what I mean. Before I write anything else, here’s a classic scene that I’m pretty sure most of us all know and love:

That’s right! She took caffeine pills and just went crazy! When I was a kid I didn’t even realize they were caffeine pills. I thought they were some other hardcore addictive drug. Looking back on that, I find it hilarious. I have a few friends who take caffeine pills on a regular basis and I’ve certainly never seen them get that psycho. Slater seemed to take a liking to her. They eventually dated but had this strange relationship. Like I said above Jessie would call Slater “pig” and Slater would call Jessie “mama”. Other than that, not much more I can say about Jessie.

So what’s Elizabeth up to now. I’m pretty sure we all are aware of the movie she starred in after Saved by the Bell….

Yep, I’m sure we aaaalll remember that. From being uber feminist to portraying a stripper. Quite the role reversal. The movie bombed at the box office and did not do too well in helping her in her movie career. She has appeared in numerous films after that one. She also appeared on the following TV shows: CSI, NYPD Blue, Without A Trace, Threshold, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She is currently starring in CSI: Miami as Horatio Cane’s ex-girlfriend. The obnoxious principal whom I’d hardly call a principal. I always wondered why the cast was so scared of him. He was the most passive principal ever. He never even yelled. Even when he was serious he wasn’t one bit scary. He handed out detentions like there was no tomorrow. This was when detention was actually a bad thing and was considered a threat. Mr. Belding was in almost every episode, foiling Zack’s plans or giving him hell. I think he was most memorable for his annoying as hell laugh. Anyways, Mr. Belding was the principle from start to finish. And I literally mean START to FINISH. He was on the show when it was still called “Good Morning Miss Bliss”. After Saved by the Bell, he joined the cast of Saved by the Bell: The New Class all the way to the series end in 2000.

Dennis Haskins was the only character on the Saved by the Bell Series for it’s entire run from 1989 to 2000. Afterwards, he had minor rolls in some movies and various other TV shows. He now tours college and high school campuses to do question-and-answer presentations. One thing you’ll definitely notice about Dennis Haskins is that he has gained a considerable amount of weight:

Unfortunately, I could not get tickets for Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark Tour. I was trying to purchase them online, and the TicketMaster website couldn’t even find two seats for me! My cousin actually lined up at Ticket Master and he told me they sold out in 4 minutes. Really sucks. I checked Craigslist and tickets are going for $200+. They also like to emphasize and make it a point that the concert is “SOLD OUT”. Please, we know. Don’t have to semi-rub it in that you have tickets. Asses. Hopefully, there’s cheap Craigslist tix. Anyways, just thought I’d give a quick update. On goes the search for more tickets.

That’s right! The last leg of the Kanye West tour was officially announced this week. Kanye, Lupe, Rihanna and N.E.R.D. will be headed to Vancouver, BC at General Motors Place on June 2! I can tell you I am damned excited! What I don’t understand is why they made such a late announcement of it coming to Vancouver. Many people suggested that it was probably because the fact that Kanye came here back in November. I highly doubt it. A concert with this many artists of this caliber NOT coming to Vancouver? Unheard of. I mean, the concert was heading to Winnipeg and Saskatoon of all places. So, I wasn’t really surprised when the announcement was made.

My theory is that they probably did the late announcement to build hype around it and therefore, sell more tickets. The reason I think this is because when Kanye West came to Vancouver last time, it was hardly sold out. Anyways, hopefully we can pick up our tickets on Friday.

Presale was today at 10AM and will be ongoing until March 7th. Official ticket sales will be on March 8th at any Ticket Master location.
